Michael Chavarria
Admissions Consultant
Michael is a fourth-year medical student at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine applying to Anesthesiology for residency. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in History at Brigham Young University, where he worked as a research assistant on Chicano history and molecular mechanisms of RAGE mediated lung injury. He was also a teaching assistant for History and Spanish classes.
During medical school, Michael has worked on health education pipeline programming and mentorship with under-represented populations. He teaches a clinical skills session for students to learn to use medical interpreters. He started his school’s first chapter of the Latino Medical Student Association and the school’s first student run clinic, Proyecto Solidaridad, which predominantly serves Latino pediatric patients.
